The Y-WCCE Young Researcher Award recognizes outstanding scientific contributions by young chemical and biochemical engineers from around the world. The award celebrates research that combines scientific excellence, innovation and relevance to the global challenges of our time. It is designed to give exceptional young researchers greater international visibility and to highlight the contribution of the next generation to the future of chemical and biochemical engineering.

Who Can Apply?

The award is open to registered Y-WCCE participants who are:

• PhD researchers
• Postdoctoral researchers
• Early-career researchers
• Young professionals in academia or industry

Applicants must be below 35 years of age at the time of the congress.

What Are We Looking For?

Submissions will be evaluated according to criteria such as:

• Scientific quality and originality
• Innovation
• Clarity of the research contribution
• Relevance to chemical or biochemical engineering
• Potential impact
• Contribution to global challenges
• Quality of the presentation

Particular attention will be given to research addressing areas such as:

Water  •  Energy  •  Climate  •  Health & Food  •  Sustainable Production  •  Circular Economy  •  Digitalization & AI  •  Society

Award Selection

Eligible contributions submitted to the Y-WCCE may be nominated for the Young Researcher Award.

A selected group of finalists will be invited to present their work during a dedicated Young Researcher Award Session as part of the live congress programme.

The finalists will present their research to an international jury and the Y-WCCE audience.

The final selection may combine:

• Evaluation by an international scientific jury
• Quality of the live presentation
• Scientific discussion and Q&A
• Audience engagement or voting
